These clients had invited me to view the property before purchasing, to assuage some concerns. Although they loved the spectacular rural vistas and facilities, they were unsure the house could become the warm, inviting family home they desired, describing it as feeling like a “warehouse on a hill”.
Key to this project was creating comfortable spaces to envelope one in, whilst keeping the tones of the interior “quiet” so that the focus would remain on the spectacular views.
As my clients are the first to live in this home the structure had no history. I strove to create a history by interjecting antique pieces of furniture and layers of art work, giving the feeling that these elements could have been passed down from generations or represent memories of family or travel, when in fact almost every item was newly purchased for this property.
